Officials react to Grammy nominated singer

Grammy nominated singer-songwriter Angie Stone was killed in a crash on Interstate 65 in Montgomery County.

Montgomery County early Saturday morning

her manager Deborah Champagne confirmed to WSFA 12 News. She was 63.

Champagne says Stone was leaving a performance and heading toward the CIAA basketball tournament in Baltimore when the crash happened.

Originally, the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said the crash happened just before 7 a.m., but has since corrected that the crash occurred at about 4:25 a.m.

ALEA has also confirmed eight others were injured in the crash and taken to Baptist Medical Center South in Montgomery for treatment.
